Villa Luminosa
Villa Refurbishment

Although not a totally new build this villa will be unrecognizable when finished – extended considerably and redesigned taking it from a typical 60’s Costa del Sol bungalow to a contemporary open plan home that will sit comfortably with its more traditional neighbours.

An original design for a villa built in the 60’s which totally transforms a dark, poorly planned 180M² bungalow into a very individual 450M² modern two level home. Other companies had suggested knocking it down and starting again however a key requirement of the brief was to minimize cost and allow the owners to live in the house during construction. This has been achieved by working as much as possible with the bones of the existing layout but incorporating meticulously thought out design features throughout thus meeting with other parts of the brief.

The new layout will allow maximum light into each room whilst also accounting for the light at different hours of the day and year. The living areas are open plan but each room has recessed sliding double doors for versatility. Openings have been lined up to maximize views front to back through each room. The vaulted kitchen, opening onto a summer terrace and winter terrace, incorporates a dining and sitting area looking out onto the garden and pool area through a spectacular floor to ceiling glazed end wall.

The new second level will incorporate a huge Master Bedroom suite with dressing room, bathroom and lounge area, the entire being glazed on both sides to take into account the sea and mountain views from private terraces. The tower staircase is also glazed floor to ceiling maximizing the views.

Local stone will be used to soften the modernity and create feature walls allowing the villa to blend well within its location. External landscaping has been necessary in advance due to difficult access to the rear of the property.
